Following the massive tragedy in Nepal on April 25th, there has been an outpouring of financial aid for the nation from Australians, many of whom have a love and admiration for the country and it’s people because they have travelled there to hike Nepal’s famous trekking routes.

Many of Australia’s restaurants joined a wonderful initiative called Tables 4 a Cause. Founded by Matteo Pignatelli & David Mackintosh – Tables 4 a Cause was set up to collect donations from the hospitality industry – of wine, produce and tables at restaurants to be auctioned online. They threw together the auction event in just over a couple of weeks and gave 100% of the proceeds to the Australian Red Cross Nepal Region Earthquake Appeal.

The Botanical joined in, donating a table of four – including a five course degustation with matching wines. The tables donated were auctioned off through Langton’s website.

The Botanical was joined by more than 100 institutions including Rockpool and Spice Temple, Matteo’s, Pei Modern, Movida and Movida Aqui, Coda and Tonka, to name but a few, and overall they raised $33,000!

“We were overwhelmed & humbled with the industry’s response… just amazing.” Said Mr Pignatelli.
