Once again, Bimbo Deluxe and Lucky Coq, two of Melbourne’s favourite pizza institutions, will host Pimp My Pizza – a competition for pizza devotees to submit their favourite topping combos for the chance to win up to $2000 to split between the winner and a charity of their choice.

The comp has been running since 2009 as a response to the endless recommendations that punters suggested for new topping combos. This is a chance for loyal customers to prove their idea is a crowd-pleaser and see their creation featured on the menu in both venues for two whole months.

Submitted entries are whittled down to the top five by public vote, and these feature on the menu at both pizza bars for one month. This is where the ‘pimping’ part comes in – \ the creators must pimp their pizza in order to make it a bestseller and win the competition!

Winning creations of past years include Pollo E Pinoli (avocado, chicken, pine nuts, baby spinach, sundried tomatoes and Camembert), Fig Me Pumpkin (Napoli sauce, rocket, pumpkin, goats cheese, figs and pistachio), and 2013’s winner ‘Hangover Cure’ (topped with chicken, bacon, avocado, tallegio, rosemary and Caesar dressing).

The competition is open to all pizza-lovers – celebrity contestants, mere mortals, and everyone in between. Excitement is building for the competition which opens on July 14 – register via the Pimp My Pizza Facebook page or pop into Lucky Coq or Bimbos for some inspiration!
