A new Sunday market arrives in Brighton

BACK TO NEWS

Melbourne is getting a new market full of local fashion, homewares and design. Starting Sunday 12 November and running on the second Sunday of every month, The Social Market will feature homegrown stallholders selling handmade treasures at affordable prices – the perfect place to pick up gifts, treats and that little something for home.

Half Moon on Church St in Brighton will host The Social Market. Running both inside the venue and into the car park out the back, this indoor-outdoor event will start at 10am and finish at sunset, providing plenty of Sunday shopping time.

Featuring over 25 market stalls, The Social Market has hand-selected a range of local independent designers. Each market day, visitors can expect hand-made jewellery, vintage fashion, festival wear and home décor including ceramics and terrariums.

As shoppers scour the stalls, they’ll be treated to live music and roving performers. Those in need of a coffee fix can score one from Miss Fleur Coffee Van, a 1950’s caravan who will set up in the carpark each market. Colonial Brewing Co will also have their mobile bar on site, serving up their seasonal range of tinnies – perfect to sip as you browse the wares.

After the shopping is done, customers can pop into Half Moon’s dining spaces for a quick bite, long leisurely lunch or a Sunday roast.

“We’re giving Bayside a different way to spend their Sunday,” said Gerry Nass, General Manager of Half Moon. “Browse the stalls, pick up some treasures, grab a coffee or beer and then kick on in our bistro.”
