We hear you Penny Black

BACK TO NEWS

After years of dominating Brunswick’s live music scene, The Penny Black is undergoing a musical facelift, providing greater coverage and audio clarity throughout the venue.

The $60,000 upgrade will help continue their commitment and contribution to Melbourne’s live music scene, proudly supporting local artists and the occasional out of towner.

The Penny Black prides itself on always providing free live music from Thursday through to Sunday. It has seen many big name acts take the stage over the years. They also play host to events such as One Day Sundays and the famous yearly Sydney Road Street Festival.

Martin Audio speakers will be added to the front bar and QSC speakers replacing the remainder of the venue. An Allen & Heath mix processor will be installed adding greater control over equalizers, bi-amping the large front of house speakers for precise tunings. They will also be adding 3 subwoofers to their collection.

The official launch of the new Sound System will be on Friday 18th September, with a free show from 20 year old songstress Tash Sultana. After a string of sold out shows, Tash will take to the front bar stage for a very special intimate performance.
