Margaret River will be hopping when the Emergence Creative Festival hits the town again on March 16. After the success of launching the Small Ale can in 2015, Colonial Brewing Co has joined the event for the second year running putting the artists to the test to create the label for the new project beer ‘The Emergence of Astra’
The brewers collaborated with hop growers and manufacturers to create a unique beer in preparation for the festival and have not disappointed.
Ellerslie Hop Australia identified early on in the breeding program some unique characteristics in two of the parent stock plants. After several years of nurturing, this lead to the birth of their new child, the ASTRA™. Flavour profiles with Green Melon, White Peaches, White Wine and a light grassiness, grapefruit and honey, the hop balances out nicely between a sweetness with a little bit of a bite.
Brewing from the new east coast brewery, Port Melbourne, the Emergence of Astra will be the beer on everyone’s lips.
Justin Fox, Head of Brewing for Colonial Brewing Co. had this to say;
‘We are excited to be partnering with Emergence Festival again for a second year and a perfect platform to introduce the Astra. It provides the opportunity for the Colonial Brewing Co to step outside the box and bring a new element to our beer’
The new can artwork, a collaboration between six South-West artists: Andrew Frazer, Emma-Jane Kim, Joel Ebsworth, Tim Kerr and the two responsible for the Small Ale can design Ian Mutch and Dune Haggar will be sure to garner attention.
A special release of 100 cartoons will be available to purchase from selected bottle shops throughout Western Australia.
