Last week after almost a year of waiting our team at Colonial Brewing Co. in the Margaret River pressed the start button on their very own canning machine. The brewery team have been working really hard to perfect the process and there has been ‘plenty of geeking out, late nights and some loving tweaking’ to get it right!

The decision to put Colonial in a can was driven by a great number of things, not the least of which is that cans, for beer, are like ‘a protective suit of armour’ – shielding the precious contents from heat, oxygen, and light. The highly recyclable nature of cans makes them great for the environment, and transport emissions are lower, too, as they weigh a lot less than beer in glass bottles.
